How to hire a lawyer for the job of the home office desk
As the number of jobs in the home offices of the state government dwindles, many are being filled by lawyers.
The state has been trying to attract a higher number of lawyers from the private sector by offering a license to them, and the new law allows them to do so.
The first group of lawyers who get licenses will be paid Rs 1,500 per month and the rest Rs 1.75 lakh.
This has created a dilemma for the state administration.
The government has to make up for the shortfall in salaries by hiring more lawyers from private firms.
“The first wave of licenses was meant to help us fill the vacancies, but we are getting a lot of applications.
As the vacancies continue to grow, it is hard to keep up with the demand,” a senior government official said.
The home office of the governor has received around 40,000 applications for licenses so far, the official said, adding that the ministry is monitoring the number and will decide whether to grant licenses to those who are qualified and can meet the state’s requirements.
The Home Office will get around Rs 8 lakh per day from the licence fee.
“We are working on a system that will ensure that we do not overburden the government,” the official added.
The government also has plans to open more private office space, but for now the demand for legal aid is limited.
