When Disney hits theaters, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ becomes the new biggest movie title in the U.S.
Tenet Box Office announced on Wednesday that it has officially hit the milestone of hitting the $1 billion mark in domestic ticket sales for The Dark Knight Rising.
The studio’s new release has surpassed the $9.5 billion that Disney acquired in 2015 for The Lion King.
The studio expects the film to hit $1.3 billion in ticket sales in its first weekend of theaters, according to the company.
The movie is expected to gross around $150 million.
Disney is expected at the weekend to open The Dark Night Rises at the top of the chart, followed by Avengers: Infinity War, Transformers: Age of Extinction, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
