‘The World Cup is the most important tournament in the world’: Jurgen Klopp
Jurgens Klopp has told the Liverpool manager the World Cup has been “the most important event in the game”.
He told the club’s official website: “The World Champions Cup was the most popular event in history.
It’s the most prestigious event, and it’s been one of the biggest things in football.”
In a blog post, Klopp said the tournament has been the most watched football tournament in history and added that he is pleased to see the World Cups popularity growing.
“It’s amazing what the people have done in terms of the numbers of people watching the games, the interest in the games and the interest of the fans,” he wrote.
“I was thinking about this after the World Series.
It was a very special experience, but also something very similar to this.
You can imagine the reaction when you watch the game.”
Liverpool beat Swansea 2-1 in the first round of the tournament last week to secure a place in the knockout stages.
The Reds will face Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris St Germain in the second round on Thursday.
The FA Cup winners have now beaten four of their opening round opponents, including Chelsea and Manchester City, but the final of the competition will be decided in a second round.
The winners of the two legs will face the winners of both the previous round.
