How to deal with immigration office calls
The Irish Post Office Office is now using automated calls to contact its overseas office.
The move follows a number of similar efforts by other post offices, which are now using a new technology called Automated Call Forwarding (ACF).
The technology allows them to use calls to a computer to contact an overseas office on a non-emergency basis.
The computer then forwards the calls to an operator at the post office.
It is a move that could prove popular with some users of the technology, who have seen it as a way to get around delays.
The Irish Post has said it has been testing the technology and that it is currently testing automated calls for its overseas offices to work out whether they can work with it.
It also said it was considering the use of the system for its other overseas post offices.
